It’s quite interesting to note that big things can often come in small packages. SanDisk seems to have achieved just that with its latest series of microSD cards. The leading name in flash storage solutions was the first to introduce a 128GB microSD card a year back. SanDisk seems to have broken its own record by introducing the world’s first 200GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card Premium Edition at the MWC 2015.
SanDisk has clarified that the latest series of microSDXC cards incorporates the same technology as the 128GB cards. Boost in storage capacity by 56 percent has mainly been a possibility due to the enhanced proprietary design as well as improvements in the process of production. In addition, the rate of transfer is now able to climb up to 90MB per second. That’s about 1,200 images transferred per minute.
To even imagine that something as tiny as a microSD card can better the memory storage of solid state drives installed in most laptops of this generation is quite overwhelming. It’s quite amusing, remembering how we are all used to flash drives that had merely 1GB of memory storage. Since it all sounds so overwhelming, SanDisk expects you to pay an overwhelming price for it; $400 to be exact.
